Getting to Ilmenau

By Air

The nearest airport is located in Erfurt. Erfurt-Bindersleben Airport is mainly for domestic flights, but it can be reached from many larger airports, Berlin, Dortmund, Hamburg, Munich and Düsseldorf. We recommend to use Frankfurt Airport and take the train via Erfurt to Ilmenau. Railway connections between Frankfurt and Ilmenau via Erfurt you can find here. You should leave the train to Ilmenau at ILMENAU HAUPTBAHNHOF. We propose to take a taxicab from the Ilmenau railway station to the hotel "Tanne".

By Train

Ilmenau can be reached by train from the direction of Erfurt, the capital city of Thuringia. From Erfurt to Ilmenau, it takes about an hour through the beautiful Thuringia countryside. If you are coming from the direction of Saalfeld or Schweinfurt you can transfer trains in Arnstadt (i.e. you do not have to go all the way to Erfurt). For a train connection to Ilmenau, please contact here. You should leave the train to Ilmenau at ILMENAU HAUPTBAHNHOF. We propose to take a taxi cab from the Ilmenau railway station to the hotel "Tanne".
