Assigned by the Fraunhofer-Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT, 4FO takes part in the developement of the Semantic HiFi project. This project, headed by the Information Society Technology (IST) and missioned by the European Commission, involves several international partners to establish a new standard for digital musics. The Semantic HiFi System will revolutionize the relation of home users to music, offering new functionality for listening, interacting and performing as well as for file-sharing and browsing in large content catalogues over Web and file sharing systems. For this purpose, 4FO will develop a new p2p file-sharing system to comply with the new standard's requirements and so to improve legal music-downloads via the internet. Having experiences in such issues, as proven by the development of the Potato System (in cooperation with Fraunhofer), has sure been one of the reasons to become part of this project. To increase the Potato System's reknown even more, 4FO will continue its convention activities. The next such appointment is the "world's biggest IT fair", the CeBIT Hannover, where 4FO – once again in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft – will be present from March 18th to March 24th.
